- There are wild and domestic dogs however they all form under the canine family, which have 36 different types of species including foxes and jackals.
- The smallest wild dog is a fennel fox,that are the size of an average domestic cat.
- The largest wild dog is the grey wolf, which can be 1.5 meters or 4″9 feet tall.
- Largest domestic dog is a Great Dane which average height is 1.5 meters or 4″9 feet.
- Smallest domestic dog is a chihuahua at 6/9 inches or 15 cm.
- Puppies sleep 18 to 20 hours when they are going through a rapid growth phase in which they grow half their body weight.
- It is estimated that dogs were domesticated between 9,000 and 34,000 years ago.
- Puppies have 28 teeth and adult dogs have 42.
- The pads on dogs feet actually sweat.
- Dogs can act as therapy, as simply petting a dog lowers blood pressure.
- 3 of the 12 dogs on Titanic survived.
- Spiked dog collars were used to protect dogs from wolves.
- 900 years ago the king of Norway handed the thrown to a dog that ruled for 3 years.

- There are 38 species in the feline family including large predators like tigers.
- All breeds of domestic cats belong to the same species called Felis Cattus.
- The best climber of cats is the South American cat called the margay.
- The first domesticated cats date back to Ancient Egypt more then 5000 years ago.
- Cats are carnivores unlike dogs that are omnivores.
- How they extend their claws is to pull tendons to move the toe bones and tilt the claw down.
- Cats have large pupils to help them see at night.
- The saying a cat has nine lives comes from the fact that they survive dangerous situations due to their quick reactions.
- The saying curiosity killed the cat (great saying by the way) comes from a cats natural curiosity for example the rattling from there could be a mouse let me go check.
- Cats are actually quite clean due to them spending most of their time grooming themselves.
- When cats scratches it is not just to sharpen their claws it in fact helps them stretch their muscles.
- Cats love to show their gratitude to their owners by giving them gifts aka dead prey, how thoughtful.
- Long haired cats have a harder time surviving as a stray.
- Cats can’t taste sweetness.
- Cats can jump 6 times higher then their height.
