Let’s discuss: the Best of the Sims 3
Posted On diciembre 19, 2020
Please note I have not played Sims 1 or 2 enough to have strong opinions on it, however I have watched videos of Sims 2 and the lore is very good as well as there was some great interactions that made the game feel realistic.
I love the Sims but if I had to choose my favorite out of all them, it would be the Sims 3. Is the game perfect by any means, no it is not it had its fair share of glitches and crashes however this is because (in my opinion) it was ahead of its time.
- Sims 3 had an open world, your sims could go from point a to point b with no loading screens which allowed for more fun and fluid game play.
- There are color wheels for everything. This allowed for everything in your house to match and look cohesive, which Sims 4 needs more of as there is a bad swatch problem where wood swatches never match.
- The high level of customization in the world, in the Sims 3 you could make your own world and in game you could even make lots smaller which was a really nice feature.
- Cars because it was an open world we could have cars! This allowed for more realistic game play and added fun interactions such as teaching your children how to drive.
- Every stage of life had fun things to do. There was so much fun play equipment for toddlers and children as well as events such as sleepovers for teenagers.
- On the discussion of teenagers, they looked like they were teens. Unlike Sims 4, in Sims 3 you can easily differentiate a teen from a young adult.
- Packs were immaculate, they all had a fun premise and packed full with things for your sims to do. Some of my favorites being: Generations and Island Paradise. (there were questionable ones too)
- There were so many places for your sims to go, even though they were mostly loop holes. However personally I have grown to love loop holes as that means I can send my parent sims on a date to the movies whilst I focused on my teen sim.
- Little details such as your sims cuddling whilst sleeping really just added something to your game, it gave it so much character that I very much appreciate. (also the attraction system)
- TRAITS AND ASPIRATIONS, there were so many. They all had just enough effect on your game play, as well as whims had meaning to your sim and isn’t random like in Sims 4, where your whims are tied to the emotions that have no connection to your sims desires.
- Bonus: babies aren’t objects and you could control your pets (cats, dogs and horses).
Like I said Sims 3 had its fair share of flaws and maybe its nostalgia as this game filled majority of my childhood. I hold it dear to my heart. I would love to hear your favorite features of the Sims 3 down in the comments below.
