Anime Review: The Disastrous Life of Saiki K

‘The Disastrous Life of Saiki K‘ is an anime based off of the manga series with the same name by Shuuichi Asou. I haven’t read the manga so this review will be based solely off of the series (however I have heard that the manga is very similar to the show).

Kusou Saiki is a high school student that has great power, you would think he would be the happiest person in the world- but he isn’t. The series shows how his powers can be an inconvenience (imagine hearing peoples thoughts night and day on top of your own) specially since Saiki just wants to live a normal life. However the show has a light hearted tone and never failed to get a good chuckle out of me.

This show is a parody of the Shonen genre and its most reflected in it’s characters- like seriously the main character is very over powered. However despite the characters being parodies you still care about them and their relationships with one another, that wrapped with the great comedy makes Saiki K a show worth watching.

Additional Note: because this show is a parody of anime tropes you will find more enjoyment is you are familiar with anime however it is not a requirement in order to enjoy it.
