Generation Stereotypes: Millennials
In a series of posts we are going to be exploring the stereotypes of the generations, discussing traits and how society views the generation in discussion. The third post is about millennials, the generation born in 1981 to 1996.
Reminder these are not facts and in fact generalizations and stereotypes therefore I am in no way claiming that this is fact.
Millennials are a hated generation, it isn’t uncommon for the younger generations to be hated on by the generations before them. However Millennials have become universally hated, and we will be exploring as to why that is.
Millennials aren’t all that bad in fact they are confident and aware on social issues which means that they aren’t afraid to question authority. They embrace technology and new ideas which is ideal in an ever advancing society. However we tend to focus on their negatives, specifically Millennials sense of entitlement (reminder this is all stereotypes) and an inability to take criticism this has something to do with the way they were raised.
Millennials were raised by late baby boomers and early gen xers. A lot of Millennials had overprotective parents which is a huge contrast to the type of parenting that Gen xers endured. Millennials were praised for average achievements leaving them with a very flawed sense of reality, my effort needs a reward.
But personally I think our view on Millennials also has something to do with how they portrayed in the media specifically Hollywood. Looking at movies Millennials who are activists were the but of the joke, specially Millennial woman. (Millennial’s sense of humor is also seen as out dated by the generation after them)
If these series of posts have proved anything, It would be that every generation has their own positive and negative traits. So I don’t think Millennials deserve the hate they get, also not every stereotype applies to everyone so it is important not to judge a whole generation of people based on these stereotypes.

obviously like your web site but you need to check the spelling on quite a
few of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the reality however I
will definitely come again again.
