Welcome back to all the space lovers alike, we have more facts but this time it is about stars. Don’t forget to check out our other post on space facts and Rover facts.
- When you look at the night sky you only see about 3000 of the billions of stars in our galaxy.
- The second brightest star is in the Cygnus (swan) Constellation.
- Birth places of stars are clouds of gas scattered through space.
- A stars lifespan (not including suns) in about 10 million years.
- Astronomers use a technique called parallax to measure the distance of a star to the Earth’s surface.
- There are 88 constellations.
- 12 of those 88 constellations are based of the zodiac signs.
- The smallest type of star is neutron stars or pulsars. (16 km/10 miles in diameter)
- A star’s brightness is actually called a star’s magnitude.
- Our solar system’s sun is a dwarf star.
- Hot stars appear white or blue.
- Cold stars appear orange or red.
- Almost all the visible stars we see are alive.
- Shooting stars are 4.55 billion years old.
- Jupiter is known as a failed star as it consists of the same elements as a star.
