Boredom Busters: Kids Edition

Staying home is difficult for kids, they don’t really understand whats going on and can get bored very quickly, we have a toddler in our household so we understand therefore we have decided to make a Boredom Busters Kids Edition. Here’s a list of some things to try keep your kids entertained at the house.

Arts and Crafts:

Arts and crafts can get messy but under good supervision can be very entertaining and has many benefits such as improving motor and creativity skills as well as giving them a platform for them to express themselves. Give them some crayons, glue and some popsicle sticks and let them do the rest.

Treasure Hunt:

Now this does take a little bit of preparation, but can keep your kids entertained for quite some time. Set out some clues for example have a picture of the object that they need to go to, to find the next clue or you can have more of a scavenger hunt and give them a checklist of things they need to find. You can have as many clues as you want and its always nice to have some treat or treasure at the end 🙂 Doing a treasure hunt can improve your child’s observation and problem solving skills.

Exercising/Yoga for Kids:

Put your kids excess energy into exercise or yoga, this can have many benefits for your child it keeps them healthy and doing yoga can help with concentration & improving memory. (article that discusses more benefits of children doing Yoga: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/more-than-just-a-game-yoga-for-school-age-children-201601299055#:~:text=Yoga%20and%20mindfulness%20offer%20psychological,anxiety%20and%20stress%20in%20children.)

Imagination:

Now this is a bit of a no brainer, but being a child comes with having an active imagination. Help them realize that with their imagination they can pretend that the cardboard box is pirate ship and they are the captain of the seas.

Doing Schoolwork:

There is a lot of printable worksheets out there on the internet, giving them some work can help kill some time and they can also feel as if they are doing work like the rest of the family.

We hope that we were able to help you by giving some ideas on ways that you can keep your child entertained during this difficult time and we hope that you and your family is safe.
